Montly Check-in
Hiya! It is time for a monthly check-in thingy to let you all know how things are going so far. (As a note, everything for this update is going to be for the reject path)
I was really hoping to have the upcoming update out by now but due to circumstances, it isn't here quite yet. I don't want to release something in a poor or unfinished state. However! I can let you all know what's been done so far and what to expect.
I said in a previous devlog that I'm working on Ted's, Sean's, and Tracy's routes simultaneosly. Tracy's part of the update is complete. Sean's part is mostly done aside from an optional NSFW scene I plan to add. Ted's is getting close to done. I am changing and adding parts for the middle of Day 6 for Ted because it was too empty before. If you've previously saved near or at the end of Day 6, you'll be given the option to start the day over and see the new content.
At the moment, I'm sitting at around 15k words. Normal updates tend to be between 10-12k, so this will be bigger than other updates once it's out. I'm predicting that it will likely be somewhere between 17-19k words by the time it's done.
As far as parts outside of writing go, there's some good and bad. Due to my leg still being injured and painful to bend, I've not been able to go to my music setup to write/play any new music. Therefore, there will not be any new music tracks when the update comes out. I still plan to write more later, but it'll have to come after I've healed.
Art is going to be a little complicated now. Sarah's hard drive crashed, so she no longer has the art files for Fueled by Insanity. While we do still have the .png image files, there will be no way for her to go in and edit individual layers for new expressions and things like that because they simply do not exist anymore. That means any future character expressions, outfits, and other changes will be a much more difficult process since Sarah won't be able to move parts around as freely, or match the shading as easily since coloring was all done across multiple layers.
Aside from those things, I've been making a few minor changes and edits here and there. Character sprites have been changed slightly to better reflect their actual height.

New
I've also been going through and making some small edits to some character expressions. There's a few that have things I felt could be improved. Ted's tired expression is one example. Some of the shading on his muzzle made it look different than it was meant to.
Old
New
Anyways, I can't really think of much else to say. The update should be out by the end of the month at the latest. I'm hoping to get it done before then if I can.
For now, have a few preview screenshots.

Lmao Sean route looks like it'll be fun from that preview. God, I love Jeffrey. Probably my favorite VN MC, one of my favorite characters out there in general. He's such a dork and he's so cute.
He's so much fun to write <3
Hey Xarishro, sorry to hear about the disk troubles. It’s part of what I do for work so (if you and Sarah think there is anything more that could be attempted to recover data) drop me a message and I’d be glad to take a look at no cost. :)
I second that, Xarishro. I've done data recovery, and you should always ask around before giving up. In some cases, it's surprisingly easy for someone who knows how.
I also strongly urge all creatives to have an off-site cloud backup, or at least a USB flash drive backup. The best online services cost money and are bulletproof, but there are free services (Onedrive, Dropbox) that will give you some space for valuable assets.
Thanks! Sarah's said she's going to try plugging her hard drive back in again tonight and see if she can get anything done. Here's hoping!
I definitely agree with making backups. I'm always paranoid about losing stuff so I back stuff up to an external hard drive every few days to a week. On top of that I've also got stuff saved to a usb flash drive and another laptop too.
Sarah seems to have had a cloud storage of some sort set up but she learned it was only keeping the most recent file. Which means technically she's still got the files for Blake's sprites, but that's it ^^'
I asked Sarah and she said she'd like to know more if that's a thing she can do. It'd be a big help ^^
I have passed the message on to Sarah and she said she'll message you when she gets a chance. Thanks!
Be sure she knows not to copy anything to the problem drive or create any new files on it. You don't want to risk overwriting clusters that might still contain recoverable data.
I just asked her and she said she hasn't. Thanks!
